Overview

Synergy develops annual reports to Congress, required by the STOP Act, that describe underage drinking and prevention data at the national and state levels. Synergy also creates products and presentations to disseminate the data to a wide range of interested audiences. These reports are developed in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to support the activities of the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Prevention of Underage Drinking.

Impact

Synergy creates the annual Report to Congress that synthesizes available current information about underage drinking and represents the authoritative federal resource on underage alcohol use. Reports offer the latest epidemiological data; policies, programs, and practices at the state and federal levels for prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery; and data on the consequences of underage drinking. Included is the annual report on the “Talk. They Hear You.”® national adult-oriented media public service campaign, also managed by Synergy. The reports are widely available to federal and state policymakers, prevention staff, educators, community coalitions, and others. Synergy facilitates workshops and develops dissemination products and materials to ensure that the rich data in the reports are accessible in a variety of formats.
