Candice Grayton, M.P.H.

Ms. Grayton serves as the project director on the Technical Support Services for Drug-Free Workplace Programs contract under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Division of Workplace Programs in its policy oversight of the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Program. With more than 20 years of experience in Federal contract management, Ms. Grayton has served as both project director and deputy project director for multiple Federal agencies. Notably, she led a large, multisite randomized clinical trial for the National Institutes of Health and oversaw all phases of the study—from instrument and protocol development to data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings and products. She also directed a national, 7-year multisite cohort study examining trajectories of multiple health behaviors from adolescence into emerging adulthood and managed complex mixed-method program evaluations.

Her experience in child and adolescent health–related research has strengthened her expertise in technical assistance; program evaluation; and quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method data collection and analysis. Ms. Grayton has managed data collection projects with study populations ranging from fewer than 100 local participants to 2,700 nation participants. For all of these studies, she actively participated in training both office and national field staff in a range of data collection procedures, including anthropometric measurement, blood collection, parent interviews, child assessments, and classroom observational techniques.
