Janelle Hughes, M.A.

Ms. Hughes currently serves as a subject matter expert and Crisis Prevention Workgroup member for the Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and as the resource and product development team lead for the Title IV, Part A Technical Assistance Center (T4PA Center). Prior to these roles, she served as the project director for the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Technical Assistance Center (REMS TA Center). Since joining Synergy in 2007, she has supported multiple contracts for Federal organizations, including six centers, offices, and programs of the U.S. Department of Education; multiple U.S. Department of Health & Human Services branches (e.g., Administration for Children and Families, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, several institutes within the National Institutes of Health); the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

In her role as the project director for the REMS TA Center, she led the creation and implementation of a multi-tiered project management plan to enhance the Federal government’s mission to provide technical assistance and training to state, territorial, local, and tribal education as well as emergency management agencies on key safety and security topics. She currently oversees content development and management of various resource types; plans and hosts live and virtual meetings; and leads the development of print, Web, and mobile tools. Ms. Hughes has also represented the Center on PBIS, T4PA Center, and the REMS TA Center as a speaker on school safety and climate at both virtual and live public-facing events hosted in collaboration with Federal and national partners.
